LIFESCAPE: Journey Through Time

The 20th Anniversary Special Exhibition of HOME·TABLE DECO FAIR — an archive of contemporary aesthetics and Korean sensibility.

The 20th Anniversary Special Exhibition of HOME·TABLE DECO FAIR, “LIFESCAPE: Journey Through Time”, retraces the 20-year journey of Korea’s living and interior culture.

It explores how our lives, spaces, and everyday objects have evolved over time, visualising a “landscape of life” where the past and present coexist. The familiar items around us — a bowl on the dining table, a chair that has shared our years, a light we’ve always known — are not just objects, but records of how we have lived, capturing our emotions, values, and ways of being.

This special exhibition is curated by Koo Byungjun (PPS), renowned General Director of the Korean Craft Exhibition in Milan, and organised by the high-end interior brand HOMLUDENS. It reinterprets the evolution of Korean lifestyle — where tradition and modernity harmoniously coexist — under the theme of “Korean Classic.”

The Distinct Perspective of Curator Koo Byungjoon

For this year’s Trend Feature Pavilion, curator Koo Byungjoon explores the lifescapes that have shaped our way of living throughout the 20-year history of the Home·Table Deco Fair. By revisiting the values we have gained and lost amid changing lifestyles, he archives traces of the past through 20 symbolic pairings of objects that reflect the evolution and identity of Korean living culture.

“LIFESCAPE: Journey Through Time” unfolds like a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional chaekgado, a space where the experiences and emotions embedded in everyday objects are laid out as a visual narrative. The exhibition offers a journey that allows us to rediscover the essentials we have overlooked and the values we must reclaim.

Spatial Design Shaped Through Sensibility

Home Ludens, the studio behind the spatial design of this year’s Trend Feature Pavilion, completed the aesthetic of “LIFESCAPE: Journey Through Time” by focusing on three core elements—material, texture and light—allowing visitors to experience the exhibition’s emotions in a more immersive and multidimensional way.

Through this journey that traces back two decades, some visitors may find themselves transported to the spaces of 2006, while others reconnect with the scenes of 2014—moments where tradition and modernity collided, and long-forgotten values quietly resurfaced.
In this process, objects and spaces are no longer perceived as mere forms, but as carriers of meaning, inviting visitors to rediscover the essence that lies beyond the brand itself.
